Only 7 km away from Klaipėda and you are in a unique location – „Dinozaurų parke DINO.LT“. The park is located in a picturesque territory, surrounded by nature, there lives more than 40 natural size dinosaurs that roar, hiss and spit water.

Driving from Klaipėda towards Kaunas direction, at the 10th kilometre mark one’s attention is grabbed a fairly new sign to turn right – to the Zoo of Klaipėda, established in the village of Jonučiai. It is a private zoo in the district of Klaipėda, which was established in 2002. The owner and founder of the zoo – Edvardas Legeckas.

There are aquariums with the Lithuanian fresh water fish, with the fish from the Baltic and tropical seas, prepared sea fauna expositions in the main restored redut. The penguins, Baltic Sea seals, the North Sea lions have found their living quarters in the outside pools at the aquarium building.

It is a historical building, in which temporary lived (1807-1808) Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III and queen Louise during the Napoleonic Wars. The building is in classicism style, it was built at the end of 18th – beginning of 19th century and it belonged to the Danish consul Lork, and later on to his relative Consentiu.

In one of the oldest buildings in the old town of Klaipeda, build at the end of the 18th century, is Klaipeda‘s regional history museum. Here you will find both Pagan and Christian culture, you will see old maps of the region, and learn how East Prussia and the Klaipeda region were formed.

n 1984, in a restored 19th-century building, a branch of the Lithuanian Art Museum was opened – the Klaipėda Clock Museum, one of the most truly unique museums in Europe. Originals, models or reconstructed copies of the ancient calendars, sun, water, fire and sand clocks, mechanical time measuring devices to the modern electro-mechanical, electro-magnetic and quartz clocks are on display.

Near the castle remains, just past the swing bridge, there is a bronze sculpture of a ghostly silhouette that looks like it is just stepping out of the water. According to one legend, in 1595, one of Klaipėda Castle guards, Hans von Heidi, saw a ghost...

In authentic 16-18th century chambers you can learn about the castle‘s and the town‘s development. You can see the exhibited archaeological foundings, documents, Klaipėda city’s stamps, reconstructed 17th century costumes that were all discovered in the old town and the site of the castle. There is also a model of the Klaipeda castle and city of the late 17th century.

On the quay of Danės river, at North Horn one can see a girl made out of bronze, standing on her tiptoes and sending a kiss to the sculpture of “Boy with dog” on the other side of Danės river. Thus, the sculpture is named accordingly – “The Kiss”.

The purpose of the sculpture is quite clear – to meet and see off the cruise ships coming into port – and to also, delight those walking around the quay. It was built with the intention not to have any visitors leave the terminal without escort.

Klaipėda Theater square is the heart of the city. Its the most popular place for any kind of event. There also is a sculpture of Ann from Tharau in the fountain in the middle of the square.

The main feature of the Theater Square is the sculpture called “Taravos Anikė” (Ann from Tharau).
The monument is dedicated to Simon Dach, a German poet who was born in Klaipėda. The fountain with the sculpture of the girl and the bas-relief of the poet was created in 1912 by Berlin sculptor Alfred Kune.

The educational vessel Meridian was built in 1948 in Finland in a Turkish shipyard as a contribution to the soviet union after the second world war. Meridian as an educational vessel closed its doors in 1967 and opened up as a restaurant on the Dane river quay.

Go for a walk to seek traces of Klaipeda‘s history during the period of 19th and the beginning of 20th century. Right now in the 10 ha territory of the park, there are exhibited 116 sculptures in various themes, which were created by 61 sculptor during the first 13 symposiums.
